Cricket Betting at bajiok — T20, ODI and Test Match Betting Complete Guide
From BPL, IPL and T20 World Cup to bilateral series — bajiok covers every cricket format for betting. Match winner to live betting, everything on this page is explained in plain language.
Three cricket formats — what changes in betting?
Cricket is played in three different formats, and the nature of betting differs across each. A T20 match lasts just a few hours — betting moves fast, odds shift quickly and the result can swing either way right up to the last over. For fans in Bangladesh, BPL is the closest competition, with local clubs on the field and strong interest from bettors.
One Day Internationals or ODIs are fifty-over matches; a team's early performance has a significant influence on the odds for the rest of the game. The IPL is an Indian league, but it is hugely popular among cricket fans in Bangladesh. And in the T20 World Cup — every Tigers match in this ICC tournament gets special attention.
Test cricket is a five-day game. There is more time to place bets and more opportunity for analysis — weather, pitch conditions and team composition all need to be considered together.
Football and other sports — how they differ from cricket
Alongside cricket, bajiok also offers football betting. One key difference in football is that a draw is possible — meaning you bet on one of three outcomes (team A wins, team B wins, or draw). In limited-overs cricket there is generally no draw, so the markets work differently.
In football you can also bet on number of goals, half-time result or number of corners. Cricket offers an even wider variety of detailed markets — wickets, run rate, powerplay score and more. For those who bet solely on cricket, the sports section of bajiok Bet has all the main markets in one place.
The 7 most-played cricket betting markets
A quick introduction to each market with a simple example.
| Market | Brief example |
|---|---|
| Match Winner | Team A vs Team B — if you think Team A will win, you back Team A. If Team A wins when the match ends, your bet is successful. |
| Toss Winner | A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. Odds on both options are usually close. |
| Top Batsman | Pick which batsman from a given team will score the most runs in a specified innings and place your bet on that player. |
| Total Runs Over/Under | Will the total runs in the first innings be more or less than 160 — you bet on one of the two sides. |
| Multi Bet | Select the results of three matches together and combine them into one bet — you win only if every selection is correct; one wrong pick and the whole bet is lost. |
| Top Wicket-Taker | A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in the match — particularly popular in Test matches. |
| Powerplay Score | A bet on how many runs will be scored in the first six overs — this market is most active in T20. |
Decimal, fractional and American — three odds formats side by side
The price of the same bet in the same match can be written in three ways. The example below uses a bet on Team A winning to explain all three formats.
Decimal Format
The easiest to read. A ৳500 bet returns a total of ৳1,250 if you win — that includes ৳750 profit plus your ৳500 stake back. You lose ৳500 if you lose.
Fractional Format
The British method. 3/2 means ৳3 profit for every ৳2 staked. On a ৳500 bet you get ৳750 profit and a total return of ৳1,250 — exactly the same as decimal 2.50.
American Format
A plus sign shows how much profit a ৳100 bet earns. +150 means ৳150 profit on a ৳100 bet. On a ৳500 bet that is ৳750 profit — all three formats show the same value for the same bet.
What do the odds look like for the favourite?
Say Team B is the favourite. Their odds are 1.50 in decimal, 1/2 in fractional and −200 in American. American minus odds show how much you need to stake to earn ৳100 profit. A ৳500 bet returns a total of ৳750 if you win (৳250 profit). The favourite's profit is lower because they are considered more likely to win — that is what the odds reflect.
Betting while the game is on — odds change when a wicket falls
One of the main attractions of live cricket betting is that the situation shifts after every ball. If the team that won the toss and chose to bat loses two early wickets, their odds of winning lengthen — because things have gotten harder. On the other hand, if a batsman is scoring quickly, the odds shorten.
When lots of runs are scored in the powerplay, the odds on "total runs over" shorten because a higher total has become more likely. In the last few overs when the match gets tight, odds fluctuate the most. Decisions have to be made quickly at those moments.
Before placing a live bet, keeping in mind the on-field situation — pitch behaviour, the state of the middle order, Duckworth-Lewis possibilities — makes the whole betting experience more informed.
When a wicket falls
If a key player from the batting side is dismissed, their team's odds of winning may lengthen. The bowling side's odds shorten.
When runs come quickly
If the batting team is scoring faster than required, their odds of winning gradually shorten.
In the final overs
Ball-by-ball odds changes in the last two or three overs are the most dramatic — there is very little time to make a decision.
A few things worth keeping in mind before betting on cricket
Betting is a form of entertainment — not a way to earn income. Keeping the following points in mind helps make the experience enjoyable.
- Set a budget in advance: Decide how much you are willing to spend in each session before you start. Placing bigger bets to recover losses is risky.
- Know one market well: Start by focusing on simpler markets like match winner or total runs. Spreading across too many markets at once reduces focus.
- Understand the format before betting: Pitch behaviour, team composition and statistics need to be judged differently for T20 and Test.
- Be aware of multi bets: Combining multiple selections increases the potential return, but one wrong pick means the entire bet is lost.
- Bet responsibly: Follow the responsible gaming guidelines at bajiok. Enjoy the game without pressure.
- Know the rules: Before placing any bet, read bajiok's terms and conditions once.
